coast barn

Set in one and a half acres of landscaped gardens, coast barn is one of a number of beautifully converted grade II listed farm-buildings set in a small attractive courtyard.

The barns are surrounded by miles of rolling Devon countryside with the sea and the splendid south Hams coastline just beyond. Noss mayo is a marvellous base from which to explore the riches of south Devon. Delightful sandy beaches are approximately 3 miles away at Mothecombe. Just a quarter mile down the lane from coast barn is Stoke beach with its secluded shingly bay and far reaching views to Burgh Island and beyond.

Noss mayo itself is a very special creek-side village with the locally reknown 'Ship Inn' right on the waters edge. The whole of the immediate coastline and headlands surrounding the village is in the care of the National Trust.

Just slightly further afield are the wonderful historic towns of Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth - great for shopping and sightseeing or perhaps a river boat trip. South Devon is known for its mild climate so offers a wealth of beautiful gardens with sub-tropical plants. Overbecks garden on the cliff tops above Salcombe really does feel as if you have just stepped into the Meditterranean!

The Dartmoor National Park is just a 20 minute drive away with its dramatic tors, river valleys, waterfalls and countless walks and outdoor activities.

There are footpaths in abundance locally and many happy hours can be spent exploring these and the little lanes and tracks that criss-cross over the landscape with wild flowers lining them throughout the spring and summer. If you enjoy the big cities with great shopping, restaurants and theatres then Plymouth is less than 30 minutes by car and Exeter approximately 1 hour away.

South Devon really is the jewel in the south west of Englands crown!
